How to Build High-Performance Habits presented by Joel Curry

“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit” – Will Durant, summarizing Aristotle.

If your performance in your own life matters to you – whether that’s in your career, relationship, as a parent, or in a sport or hobby you want to master – then learning how to build and sustain powerful habits is key to your success.

And if you’re like most people, at one time or another you’ve set goals to change areas in your life that you aren’t satisfied with or want to improve, but struggled to make the new changes stick.

In most cases, it comes down to habits, the little things you repeatedly do that become automatic. These habits can either set you up for success and achievement or impede your process and leave you feeling miserable and stuck.

In this discussion, we’ll talk about the brain science and structure behind habit-formation, why it’s so hard to successfully start and keep new habits, and other insights from Charles Duhigg’s The Power of Habit, James Clear’s Atomic Habits, and S.J. Scott’s Habit-Stacking.

You’ll also get some tips, tools, and techniques for hacking your own habit-building process, and which keystone habits you can start with to improve your performance in the areas of your life that matter most to you.

The discussion will be led by Joel Curry, a Canadian digital nomad, and entrepreneur who is passionate about helping people grow and achieve their potential. He is in the process of setting up the Bamboo Collectif, a network of ideas and information for entrepreneurs, innovators, and lifelong learners here in Taipei.
